Tamdhu Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky has strengthened its award credentials with a gold medal win at The San Francisco World Spirits Competition, the most prestigious and highly regarded spirits competition in the USA, with its recently released Batch Strength expression.

Held at the distinguished Hotel Nikko in San Francisco on the 19-22 March, the 2015 San Francisco World Spirits Competition was the largest in its 15 year history with Tamdhu fighting off stiff competition from over 1,500 entries. Spirit entries were evaluated by 39 of the finest palates in the industry.

Commenting on the awards, Neil Boyd, Commercial Director for Ian Macleod Distillers, said: “Tamdhu Batch Strength has only been on the market for a matter of weeks and to receive this prestigious award so early on is absolutely fantastic. It has been matured in a small number of exceptional, hand-selected sherry oak casks to achieve the most genuine taste and character – it is the closest you’ll get to sampling a dram of whisky straight from a Tamdhu cask.”

Tamdhu is owned by one of Scotland’s leading, independent family-owned distillers, Ian Macleod Distillers. Tamdhu was born on the banks of the River Spey in 1897. Its quality is defined by the hint of peat in its malted barley, the natural Speyside water that is drawn directly from the Tamdhu spring and the exclusive use of only the finest sherry oak casks.
