24 June 2019: Ian Macleod Distillers is showcasing its single malt expertise in its largest ever activation, which features Tamdhu and Glengoyne single malt whiskies with World Duty Free at Edinburgh Airport this month.
During the June whisky festival, Tamdhu and Glengoyne dominate the store with a stunning feature wall, two tasting and education areas and two high quality bespoke gifts with purchase.
Consumers are able to select from a range of award winning GTR exclusive expressions, namely: Tamdhu Ámbar 14 year old (RRP £69.99) and Tamdhu Gran Reserva First Edition (RRP £149.99) and Tamdhu Single Cask (RRP £279.00). The latter was launched exclusively with World Duty Free at Edinburgh Airport, with only 597 bottles available. Travellers receive a Victorian style tasting glass with every bottle of Tamdhu purchased.
Shoppers seeking a Highland Single Malt can choose from the travel retail exclusive Glengoyne Spirit of Oak Collection. This includes two expressions, Glengoyne Cuartillo (RRP £49.95) and Glengoyne Balbaína (RRP £58.95), as well as two limited, high end expressions, Glengoyne Pedro Xíménez Cask Finish (RRP £89) and the very scarce Glengoyne 28 Year Old (RRP £420). Those spending over £50 will receive a box of luxury handmade chocolates from double winner of the World’s Best Truffles, Iain Burnett – The Highland Chocolatier, which have been specially selected to perfectly complement each Glengoyne Spirit of Oak expression.
Ian Macleod Distillers’ Whisky Experiential Ambassador, Gordon Dallas is on hand for the duration of the activation, sharing his extensive knowledge of Scotch whisky.

Tamdhu recently scooped two gold awards at the Spirits Business Distillery Masters. Firstly it was recognised for its ongoing partnership with the Spey Fishery Board and the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) to build and maintain one of the UK’s longest and highest fish passes on the doorstep of the distillery and secondly for its digital and social media campaign From Spain to Speyside. Tamdhu Single Cask
Nose: rich and luxurious, buttered warm fruit cake, strawberry, custard and orange zest
Palate: Soft, balanced, thick and syrupy, richly sherried, dried apricot, cinnamon and raisins
Finish: Beautifully rich concentrated dried fruit with vanilla and fresh oak
Tamdhu Ámbar 14 year old
Nose: sweet biscuit, with welcoming oak & spice
Palate: Raspberry and citrus with toffee, ground malt and gingerbread
Finish: Pleasingly long, building to a crescendo
Tamdhu Gran Reserva
Nose: Rich sherry oak, almond toffee, light citrus and cloves.
Palate: Sherry sweetness and complex oak, with a tingle of zest, spice and soft fruit
Finish: Beautifully balanced cinnamon, vanilla and dark chocolate
Tasting Notes Glengoyne
Glengoyne Cuartillo (40% abv)
Appearance: Bright gold
Nose: Appetising and fresh, with vanilla sponge, soft toffee, saffron and sweet malt.
Taste: Fruity, elegant, and creamy – with apricots and a hint of cinnamon.
Finish: A balance of gentle spice and sweet fruit.
Glengoyne Balbaína (43% abv)
Appearance: Rich amber
Nose: Warming, with spiced raisin biscuit, maple syrup and cloves.
Taste: Brown sugar on the tongue, with dried apple, toffee and sherry richness.
Finish: Dry with soft oak, ground spice and citrus.
Glengoyne Pedro Ximínez Cask (46% abv)
Appearance: Deep amber
Nose: Satisfying and rich, with honey nut cereal, lemon zest, fresh oak and vanilla.
Taste: Sweet grape, caramelised sugar, lemon sherbet and tingling spice.
Finish: Sherry notes, with citrus and milk chocolate.
Glengoyne 28 Year Old (46.8% abv)
Appearance: Dark mahogany
Nose: Complex and rich, with dark chocolate, marmalade, rosehip and warm spice.
Taste: Beautifully aged, smooth and nutty. Spiced with dark cherry, cocoa and fresh berries.
Finish: Long with dry sherry, coconut and warming spice.
