We are delighted to announce that we have continued our success in 2020 by scooping an industry accolade at the highly regarded Scottish Field Summer Whisky Challenge 2020 for our exclusively sherry cask matured Dalbeallie II.
Up against 51 different whiskies released since January 1st 2019, Tamdhu Dalbeallie II came out on top in the £50 - £100 category and was crowned the overall winner across all categories. Judge Darren Leitch described the whisky as a “rollercoaster of aroma and flavour”.
No stranger to success, earlier this year the Tamdhu Dalbeallie II was awarded Gold at the World Whiskies Awards 2020 in the Single Malt, Scotch Speyside – No Age Statement category.
Sandy McIntyre, Tamdhu Distillery Manager, said: "It’s great to see our second Dalbeallie Dram getting praise and recognition from industry experts. The quality of our sherry cask matured single malts comes from the craft of the entire distillery team.”
Named in honour of Dalbeallie Station and the vital role the Victorian railway played in bringing the finest sherry casks from Spain to Speyside, the Dalbeallie Dram II was launched at last year’s Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival.
Individually numbered and bottled at cask strength 61.1% ABV, the whisky was matured in European and American Oak Oloroso seasoned casks from the cooperages of Jerez in Spain, reflecting Tamdhu’s commitment to producing only the best sherry cask matured whisky.
Tamdhu uses only the best Oloroso sherry seasoned American and European oak casks giving the award-winning single malt its natural, dark amber colour, intense richness on the palate and its deep, long finish. We mature exclusively in sherry seasoned casks, which are crafted in the family cooperages and bodegas of Jerez for up to 6 years before beginning their journey to Scotland.
